Help Page- CRASH Project
Welcome to the Crash Project. Are you interested in viewing all traffic crashes in the counties of Grant, Green, Iowa, Lafayette, and Richland in southwest Wisconsin? A very simple, easy-to-use mapping system has been developed that shows crash site location and crash data.
Why map crash data? The Southwest Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission along with the UW-Madison Traffic Operations and Safety (TOPS) Lab recognized the need to plot crashes and crash data in this region of Wisconsin.
Crash Data
The data used in this project is subdivided by county and shows accident type (fatal, injury, and/or property damage), date of crash, municipality, total vehicles involved, and, of course, the location of the crash. The manner of collision is also used in this project. For example, the manner of collision can be head on, angle, rear-to-rear, same side, or opposite side.
How to search
With this project, three search options are available. You can search by county, search by date, or search by severity.
Search by county: Use this option for choosing a specific county. Only results from the selected county will be returned.
Search by date: Use this option to select a specific time period. By selecting a time period, only results from that time period will be returned.
Search by severity: Use this option to select a certain severity of collision. For example, by selecting Fatal, only fatal crashes will be returned. By selecting Injury, only crashes with one or more injuries will be returned.
Other Types of Searches:
By drawing a box around the area of interest, the map will only return results that fall in the specified region.
Note: Crashes are mapped at the approximate locations. Some crashes may have occurred at a single point and the vehicles were dragged some distance. Therefore, these crashes may not be plotted at their exact location.
Display Options

Conclusion
In conclusion, this page shows vehicle crashes in the Wisconsin counties of Grant, Green, Iowa, Lafayette, and Richland in Wisconsin from the years 2004 through 2006. This page can be used by the public to access information about car crashes between those years. This site will provide crash information such as the date, location and severity for each crash. This site also shows the total number of fatalities, total number of injuries and the total number of vehicles involved for a particular crash.
